What can we do to fix the sign on Richmond at Dairy Ashford?

Thank you,

As you probably already know – the sign on Richmond @ Dairy Ashford was hit by a passing car.  In order to make a claim against the insurance company of the motorist, we had to wait to obtain a police report.   VanMor requested this report on our behalf and the city initially lost our request and payment.  On follow-up, VanMor was able to obtain the police report and has filed a claim against the driver’s automobile insurance policy.

The responsible party’s insurance company has, as of late last week, made an initial offer of settlement to the Ashton Village Homeowners Association.   A few minor details are being followed up on before acceptance (completeness, process for making claims if hidden damages are discovered, etc).   The Board should receive this information in the next few days and a decision regarding acceptance can then be made.

We have, previously contacted a sign company to inspect the damage and provide a bid for repair, so that process is complete and the sign company is awaiting our clearance to begin.  Once provided with the go-ahead, we are being told that the sign company will need 4 weeks to complete the job (custom logo, etc.).  We expect the claim/offer approval and ordering process to be completed before June 1.

Our other alternatives were to pay for the repairs out of the general account or make a claim against the insurance policy held by the Homeowners Association.  Since the damage to the sign exceeds Six Thousand Dollars ($6000.00), the Board of Directors felt it in the best interest of the Association to make every attempt of recovery from the responsible party before either absorbing the cost and/or filing a claim against the Association’s insurance policy (and run the risk of cancellation or a sharp premium increase).

Thank you for utilizing the website and being involved.  Together we can make Ashton Village a great place to live.

Follow-up from Homeowner

Thanks for the response.  We all look forward to the repair.  My neighbors were visiting in the front yard as we do frequently and the sign came up so when I picked up our pool tags I was glad to know that there is a digital way for us to communicate.
